Samsung estimated third-quarter operating profit of 107.4 trillion won, a 782.5% increase from a year earlier that would mark its most profitable quarter. Separately, monthly sales figures from Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) put its estimated quarterly revenue at a record NT$1.49 trillion.

Samsung's profit estimate compares with 12.17 trillion won a year earlier and 89.49 trillion won in the preceding quarter. It also exceeds the 106.1 trillion won analysts expected, according to LSEG data. The company estimated sales of 195 trillion won, an annual increase of 127%.

AI data centers are buying high-bandwidth memory, stacked chips used to supply data to AI processors. Samsung is benefiting from that demand, while constrained supply is also lifting DRAM and NAND memory prices. The company did not provide divisional figures.

TSMC said September revenue increased 54.6% from a year earlier to NT$511.86 billion. Its estimated third-quarter total, derived from monthly figures, was up 51% annually and 17.6% from the previous quarter. At $46.8 billion, it exceeded the upper end of the company's $44.6 billion to $45.8 billion guidance range.

Taiwan also reported record September exports of $87.2 billion, an annual increase of 60.9%, driven by worldwide demand for AI hardware. TSMC's customers include Nvidia and Apple.

TSMC is scheduled to publish complete third-quarter earnings and its outlook on October 15, following ASML's report the day before. Samsung will provide detailed results on October 29.
