Privacy policy
What we handle when you read the site or send us a message.
This page explains what information Globe And Street ("we", "us") handles when you read globeandstreet.com or send us a message.
What the site does not have
The site has no accounts, no comments, no newsletter and no way to upload anything. It shows no advertising and runs no analytics. Because of that, we do not build a profile of you and we do not sell or rent information about readers.
Reading the site
When your browser asks for a page, it sends technical information: your internet address (IP address), the page you asked for, the time, and details of your browser and device. Our hosting providers and Cloudflare, which sits in front of the site to deliver it quickly and to keep it secure, receive and record this to deliver the pages, to keep the site safe and to find faults. The site itself does not set cookies. Cloudflare may use cookies or similar means for security.
Content loaded from other hosts
The fonts and style sheets of the site are served by us, not by Google or any other font service. Our pictures are served from our own image address, delivered through Cloudflare. Links to other sites, and the share buttons, open another site only when you click them. That site then applies its own rules.
Sending us a message
The contact form asks for your name, your email address, the topic of your message, the address of a story if you are asking for a correction, and your message. We use them to read and answer your message, and to keep a record of corrections and removals. Your message is sent to us by email. We keep it for as long as we need it to answer you and to keep our records, and then delete it.
Who we share information with
We share information only with the companies that run the site for us, including hosting, delivery, security and email, and only so that they can provide that service. We may disclose information when the law requires it.
Your choices
You may ask what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, through the contact page. Readers in different countries have different rights; we respect these requests wherever the law gives you the right to make them. You can also block cookies in your browser settings; the site works without them.
Children
The site is a news site for general readers and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly ask children for personal information.
Security
We take reasonable steps to protect information. No system is completely secure, so we cannot promise that information will never be exposed.
Changes to this page
We may change this page, for example if we add a feature. The date at the top shows the latest version. Our terms of service explain the rules for using the site.
