Private equity firm GTCR and activist investor Elliott Investment Management are discussing an acquisition of CCC Intelligent Solutions at an advanced stage, a person familiar with the matter said on October 9. The person provided no financial terms and said the parties had yet to reach a final agreement.

CCC shares gained about 13% during extended trading following a media report about the talks. The company's software supports operations at auto insurers, vehicle repair shops, automakers and parts suppliers.

Neither CCC nor GTCR immediately responded to requests for comment. Elliott declined to comment.

A media report in August said online vehicle auctioneer Copart was discussing a purchase of CCC. Another report in July said the Chicago-based software company was considering a sale, had engaged Morgan Stanley as an adviser and had contacted prospective buyers, including private equity firms.

Advent International bought CCC in 2017 and brought it to public markets in 2021 through a special-purpose acquisition company merger. Advent ended its investment in 2025 via secondary share offerings, selling its remaining holding.
