Ukrainian officials said speed limits remained in effect, disputing the U.S. president’s earlier assertion that service had been fully restored.
inDrive targets Astana robotaxi trials under Pony.ai and Nvidia proposal
Testing is planned for the first half of 2027, initially with a safety operator before any fully driverless service.

inDrive is planning to test autonomous taxis in Astana, Kazakhstan, with Pony.ai and Nvidia during 2027’s first half, Chief Technology Officer Yuri Misnik said. The three companies signed a memorandum of understanding to examine how Pony.ai vehicles could join the ride-hailing service.
Misnik said a safety operator would be present during initial testing; driverless passenger trips are the longer-term objective. The proposed arrangement would give inDrive responsibility for operating Pony.ai’s Gen-7 vehicles in Kazakhstan and offering rides through its app. Nvidia would provide AI technology, including Hyperion and the Halos safety system.
Kazakhstan has outlined a 2027 launch for autonomous taxi services, beginning with trials in three cities, including Astana. The country has also adopted rules allowing testing on designated public roads. inDrive founder and CEO Arsen Tomsky said Astana would provide an opportunity to evaluate autonomous driving under difficult winter conditions.
Nvidia says Hyperion can help developers cut costs by supplying sensors and computing technology that they would otherwise have to assemble and integrate themselves.
The proposal would extend Pony.ai’s international expansion. The company’s worldwide fleet goal for the end of 2026 exceeds 3,500 robotaxis across more than 20 cities. Its fleet numbered 1,975 vehicles at June’s close.
