The Amazon CEO said significant bookings also extend into 2028, while demand from AI labs and enterprises is outstripping capacity expansion.

Amazon has little cloud computing capacity left to sell through 2027 and has received substantial commitments for 2028, CEO Andy Jassy said on October 23. He said the company is struggling to meet demand from enterprises and artificial intelligence labs.

Jassy said all capacity for 2026 had been sold, while most large blocks for 2027 were already booked. AWS nevertheless keeps some capacity available for on-demand use and its Bedrock and EC2 services, he said.

Amazon had earlier put its planned 2026 capital expenditure at about $220 billion. Jassy said demand could justify considerably more investment. He made the comments during a video podcast featuring Ben Horowitz, co-founder of Andreessen Horowitz, and Erik Torenberg, a general partner.

AWS customers use EC2 cloud servers to run applications. Bedrock offers access to AI models for building generative AI applications. Amazon is due to announce its third-quarter results on October 29.
