Germany plans Nvidia AI partnership, media report says
The proposed agreement would involve investments worth hundreds of millions of euros and support AI models and tools for German industry.

Germany is planning a broad partnership with U.S. chipmaker Nvidia aimed at expanding industrial use of artificial intelligence, according to a media report citing people familiar with the matter. The proposed agreement would involve investments worth hundreds of millions of euros.
The partnership would have two objectives: laying the groundwork for physical AI applications, including training robots and autonomous vehicles, and supporting the development of high-performance AI models for industrial use, the report said.
The planned collaboration would center on Germany's SOOFI project, short for Sovereign Open Source Foundation Models. That initiative brings together research institutions, universities and AI companies to develop large AI models, according to the report.
An announcement is expected at the Invest in Germany conference in Berlin, where Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang is due to attend as a guest, the report said. The German government did not immediately comment. It has previously said it remains committed to expanding AI capacity as a way to strengthen Europe's digital sovereignty.
