Waymo adds Las Vegas airport rides with limited initial access

Harry Reid International becomes the sixth major airport served by Waymo, with service initially restricted to a small group of riders.

Waymo has begun carrying passengers between Las Vegas and Harry Reid International Airport, the company said. Access will initially be limited to a few riders before the airport service becomes available to all customers.

Passengers will use designated autonomous vehicle areas at Terminal 1 and Terminal 3 for both arrivals and departures. The airport addition follows Waymo’s September launch of public rides in Las Vegas, where its service already covers 24 square miles.

The expansion brings Waymo’s network to six major airports. Its other airport locations are Phoenix Sky Harbor, Nashville International, San Antonio International, San Francisco International and San José International.

Waymo joins Amazon-owned Zoox in offering rides at the Las Vegas airport. The city is also set to receive more robotaxis: state regulators approved permits in August that will allow Tesla and Uber to deploy thousands of vehicles on its streets.
