Toyota Motor said on October 16 that it expects annual deployment of its Arene software platform to reach 10 million new vehicles by 2030, spanning 50 car models.

Chief Technology Officer Hiroki Nakajima presented the deployment plans during an investor briefing in Brussels, a Toyota spokesperson said. Nakajima also outlined the company's aim to extend Arene's use further toward 2035, including to vehicles made by alliance partners.

Arene made its debut in Toyota's revamped RAV4 sport utility vehicle, launched in 2025.

Software-defined vehicles can receive updates over the air after a customer buys them. That capability allows automakers to introduce additional safety, autonomous driving and entertainment functions without customers having to take their vehicles to a dealership.
