SK Hynix posts record quarterly profit, plans 100 trillion won in shareholder returns
Operating profit reached 83.3 trillion won, exceeding forecasts, as AI infrastructure demand pushed memory chip prices higher.

SK Hynix reported on October 28 that its July-September operating profit climbed more than seven-fold to 83.3 trillion won, a quarterly record. The South Korean chipmaker also outlined plans to return about 100 trillion won ($75.4 billion) to shareholders for the year.
The Nvidia supplier's profit compared with 11.4 trillion won a year earlier and exceeded the LSEG SmartEstimate of 76.7 trillion won. Revenue increased 328% to 104.6 trillion won as sustained demand for AI infrastructure lifted memory chip prices.
The shareholder return plan includes 30 trillion won in cash dividends and 60 trillion won allocated to repurchasing and canceling shares. The latter includes 40 trillion won announced in August.
SK Hynix maintained its forecast that demand would outstrip supply through 2030. It said long-term agreements signed with 14 major customers cover more than 50% of its production capacity for 2027 and 2028.
The company said it was discussing extensions with several customers beyond the contracts' typical five-year terms. Its shares rose 2%, alongside a 2.2% advance in the broader market.
