OpenAI is pursuing private financing of up to $30 billion, with a proposed pre-money valuation of $1.25 trillion, according to a media report citing sources. Coatue and investors from the UAE would lead the round.

The terms have not been finalized and could change, media reports said. Funding from the UAE could come alongside an agreement for OpenAI to obtain additional computing capacity from the country, according to a media report. OpenAI declined to comment.

A separate media report a month earlier put the fundraising amount at $30 billion and the proposed valuation at $1.4 trillion. The latest discussions concern another private round as the ChatGPT developer works toward an initial public offering.

OpenAI submitted confidential IPO paperwork in June. Its previous fundraising, in March, assigned the company a post-money valuation of $852 billion, including the investment raised in that round.
