Some potential buyers see a discussed $1.5 trillion valuation as too high, while investors await October revenue figures.
Harbinger lands $240 million Series D amid push into defense
The electric truck startup’s backers include FedEx, which recently ordered 2,000 trucks in a transaction valued at more than $300 million.

Harbinger has raised $240 million through a Series D round as the electric truck startup adds battery storage and defense applications to its product lineup. Three investors jointly led the financing: Tiger Global, Capricorn’s technology impact fund and Ridgeline, which focuses on defense.
The Los Angeles-based company received another investment from FedEx, the lead investor in its $160 million Series C nearly a year earlier. Maniv, Greycroft and Volkswagen-backed venture capital firm Leitmotif also returned, while Fidelity Management participated in the new round.
According to a media report, Harbinger’s total funding now exceeds $650 million. The company is reportedly considering going public.
Beyond the financing, FedEx recently committed to buying 2,000 Harbinger trucks for more than $300 million, its first large order from the manufacturer. Paul Melander, who serves as FedEx’s senior vice president overseeing safety and transportation, has also taken a seat on Harbinger’s board.
Former Canoo and QuantumScape employees founded Harbinger in 2022 with an initial focus on a single electric truck chassis. Its subsequent expansion has included buying autonomy startup Phantom AI, beginning development of hybrid emergency vehicles and introducing a driverless hybrid electric platform designed for military use.
