Amazon said on October 20 that it plans to spend more than €16 billion across its German businesses in 2027, covering cloud computing, artificial intelligence, satellite internet and media. The company announced the package at Berlin's Invest in Germany Summit.

Of that amount, €4.8 billion is intended for the expansion of Amazon Web Services' Frankfurt cloud region and AI infrastructure. Amazon also plans a second Berlin research laboratory focused on robotics and AI.

The package includes logistics projects that are expected to generate more than 3,000 jobs. Other elements cover development of Amazon Leo, the company's satellite broadband network, and additional productions for Prime Video.

Amazon says its investment in Germany since 2010 exceeds €100 billion. The latest plans follow a commitment announced in June 2024 to invest €10 billion in German cloud infrastructure and logistics, with €8.8 billion allocated to AWS data centers.
