Inspired Capital raises $450 million for fourth fund
The New York-based venture firm's assets under management will reach nearly $1.4 billion, co-founder Alexa von Tobel said.

New York-based venture investor Inspired Capital has secured $450 million in commitments for its fourth fund, co-founder Alexa von Tobel said. The fundraising will take assets under management to nearly $1.4 billion at the firm, which she established with Penny Pritzker in 2019.
The new fund follows a third vehicle that closed in early 2024 with $330 million. Inspired previously raised $281 million for its second fund and $200 million for its first.
Von Tobel said Inspired will maintain its approach of investing in roughly 10 companies annually, from the earliest stages through Series A, with investments ranging from $1 million to $15 million. Pritzker, a former U.S. Commerce Secretary, continues to be active as a co-founder.
Despite its New York base, Inspired has roughly 45% of its portfolio on each coast, with the remaining 10% elsewhere, von Tobel said. Its investments include physical AI and quantum computing startups, and roughly a third of its portfolio companies have repeat founders.
Von Tobel said 12 companies backed by Inspired's first two funds have reached unicorn status, accounting for about 15% of the portfolio. The firm also counts more than 10 exits. She declined to disclose cash-on-cash returns, citing the firm's relatively short history.
