Apple picks Steve Smith for M&A role, moves Adrian Perica to services
Perica will work exclusively on the services leadership team under Eddy Cue, while Smith will report to finance chief Kevan Parekh.

Apple has chosen insider Steve Smith to lead its mergers and acquisitions operations, with Adrian Perica shifting to a full-time role in services, an internal memo said.
The changes place Smith under Chief Financial Officer Kevan Parekh. Perica will report to services chief Eddy Cue and concentrate entirely on the division's leadership team, according to the memo written by Cue.
Perica has worked in Apple's corporate development and M&A function for more than 17 years. His responsibilities expanded in 2023 to include oversight of businesses such as News, iCloud and Fitness+. Cue said the company had major plans for services and welcomed Perica devoting more time to them.
The moves add to management changes under new CEO John Ternus. Apple did not immediately provide a comment when asked.
A separate media report said Carson Oliver is being promoted to App Store vice president. Apple shares were up about 1.4% on October 8.
