The AI cloud provider's shares closed around 15% lower on October 14, while media reports described pressure on its bonds.
Anthropic posts $16.8 billion quarterly revenue ahead of planned IPO
An investor said revenue rose 45% from the preceding quarter and Anthropic reported an adjusted profit as it seeks a valuation above $2 trillion.

Quarterly revenue at Anthropic reached $16.8 billion in the third quarter, up 45% from the preceding period, an investor said after attending an October 14 meeting with the company's leadership in San Francisco. The gathering was intended to introduce prospective investors to the company before its planned IPO.
The attendee put first-quarter revenue at $4.7 billion and the second-quarter figure at $11.6 billion. Anthropic also said its adjusted results for the third quarter showed a profit, the investor added. The company did not immediately reply to a request for comment sent by email.
Anthropic is seeking a valuation exceeding $2 trillion. Its listing is expected before OpenAI's, though a media report said Anthropic would likely postpone its debut until after the November U.S. midterm elections.
The company has made commitments of at least $518 billion for computing, infrastructure and cloud services over a decade. Spending on chips and data centers has brought greater scrutiny of AI developers' finances.
Former OpenAI executives founded Anthropic, which develops the Claude models. Amazon and Alphabet's Google have helped its expansion through investment, computing supply and distribution, while competing with it in AI.
