Bumble is negotiating a potential take-private transaction with Ithaca Holdings that would value the dating-app company at roughly $1 billion, a person with knowledge of the discussions said on October 12. The talks are at an advanced stage.

The report sent Bumble shares up around 50% to $3.81. Before that move, the Austin, Texas-based company's market value stood at roughly $389 million at the prior close. Requests for comment drew no immediate response from either company.

Silicon Valley executives Ravi Gupta and John Hegeman founded Ithaca as a holding company for technology businesses. Bumble had been examining a possible sale earlier in the year as online dating growth slowed, according to a media report.

Bumble recorded about 3.7 million paying users for 2025, down more than 11%, while revenue for the year dropped nearly 10% to about $966 million. Its paying-user count fell 16.4% to 3.2 million for the second quarter, which ended June 30.

CEO Whitney Wolfe Herd established Bumble in 2014. Since her return as chief executive, the company has introduced features powered by AI and additional options for connecting users as part of its efforts to restore growth.
