Anthropic launched Claude Haiku 5.5 on October 7, expanding its artificial intelligence offerings ahead of a planned IPO. The model costs 75% less than Haiku 4.5, its predecessor, and is the third addition to the Claude 5.5 family in the past month.

For prompts below 100,000 tokens, pricing is $0.10 for each million input tokens and $0.50 for each million output tokens. Longer prompts carry charges of $0.50 per million input tokens and $2.50 per million output tokens.

The model is designed to classify, summarize and extract information, with uses including voice agents, live support and assistants within apps.

Anthropic said Haiku 5.5 is its first Haiku model to include built-in safeguards covering a limited range of high-risk cybersecurity requests. The company said those safeguards would leave most everyday tasks unaffected.
