Bumble said on October 13, 2026, that it had agreed to be acquired by Ithaca Holdings for $1.3 billion. The proposed transaction would end the dating app company’s time as a publicly traded business, which began in 2021.

The agreement comes as Bumble reports declines in both revenue and subscribers. For the second quarter of 2026, revenue was $211 million, a decrease of 15.2% from a year earlier. Its paying user count dropped 16.4% to approximately 3.2 million.

An independent board committee endorsed the acquisition following a strategic review and consultations with external financial and legal advisers. Bumble said founder Whitney Wolfe Herd took no part in the board’s deliberations or its vote. She plans to remain active in the business alongside the Bumble team and Ithaca’s Ravi Gupta and John Hegeman.

Bumble has also been exploring features driven by artificial intelligence and ways to encourage offline connections. In July, it announced Plans, a feature built around shared real-world activities. Wolfe Herd has said the company is developing another approach to user interaction that could eventually replace swiping.
