Vietnam will be honored to host the first ASEAN Women’s MSIG Serenity Cup in 2025 from August 6 – 19. This championship is a turning point in the development of women football in Southeast Asia. It indicates a significant step forward for the sport in the area. For the first time in its 21-year history, the tournament has secured a title sponsor, with insurance company MSIG stepping forward to support this landmark event.
The matches will be held at Vietnam’s two most famous stadiums. At 20,000 capacity, the Việt Trì Stadium is one of the smaller venues in Vietnamese football, with the Lạch Tray Stadium in Hải Phòng capable of accommodating 30,000 fans. Both venues will host matches throughout the tournament’s group stage. The Lạch Tray Stadium then becomes the only venue for the semifinals, third-place playoff and final match.
This tournament is set to be one of the most competitive yet, featuring the strongest squads from across Southeast Asia. The first five finishers in the last edition—Philippines, Thailand, Myanmar, Vietnam, and Australia—will earn automatic places in the championship. At the same time, Indonesia, Cambodia and Singapore will have their shot at qualifying berths through the Women’s Cup.
Vietnam already has a rich history of hosting this illustrious tournament, with five previous times. The city has not been so welcoming to the event since 2015. The passion and talent of the Vietnamese national team has amazed everyone during their performances on the pitch. They have won three championships, second only to Thailand’s four nationals.
Khiev Sameth, president of the ASEAN Football Federation, said he was “excited” about this debut event. He stated that it signifies “a transformative era for the women’s game throughout the region” and emphasized its importance in promoting women’s football.
Trần Quốc Tuấn, called the successful hosting of this championship an honor. He remarked, “It is a tremendous honour for Vietnam to host the ASEAN Women’s MSIG Serenity Cup 2025, an occasion of great pride that reflects the remarkable growth of women’s football in our nation and across Southeast Asia.”
Khiev Sameth further noted that “the ASEAN Women’s MSIG Serenity Cup 2025 marks an important milestone in our shared journey to elevate women’s football in Southeast Asia.” This Super Bowl show will no doubt showcase amazing athletic prowess. It will provide a platform for future generations of female footballers across the region just like them to follow.
