Trump to Utilize Luxury Jet from Qatar as Air Force One Amid Boeing Delays

Former President Donald Trump is preparing to take delivery of a luxury private from the royal family of Qatar. This is as he is facing significant delays in getting new Air Force One aircraft from Boeing for his travels. If he wins a second term, Trump is already working on his first trip abroad. One of his last stops will be in Qatar.

Boeing is struggling with a myriad of production problems. Consequently, the delivery of two new customized Boeing 747s for Air Force One has been postponed until at least 2027. Trump himself cut a deal to modernize these aircraft during his first term. New reporting indicates that the longstanding delays may leave him with no choice but to pursue other options sooner rather than later.

The luxury jet, which has been set aside for Trump’s use by the Qatari royal family, will serve as Air Force One when the President travels in it. Four people with knowledge of the planning confirmed the unusual arrangement to Defense One, stressing that the move is particularly needed in light of Boeing’s failures. Trump previously toured a Qatari 747 at Palm Beach International Airport in February, where he expressed interest in potential alternatives.

“We may buy a plane or get a plane, or something.” – Donald Trump

The price of acquiring one new, commercial Boeing 747-800 is about $400 million. This significant investment serves to muddle the waters of climate action and response. Meanwhile, the luxury Qatar private jet is a much more immediate genre-begging fix for Trump. It prepares him for his travels abroad.

Trump’s first trip to the Middle East should be different. It would mark his first overseas trip since stepping down from office. The visit deepens his relationship with other important allies. Moreover, it demonstrates just how practical it would be to use the Qatari jet, especially considering the logistical difficulties in working with Boeing.

Despite the backlash, the former president’s administration is moving forward with plans to use the luxury jet. This joint action ensures that he has the right kind of diplomatic transport for his upcoming diplomatic engagements. Trump’s agreement with Qatar is an example of the kind of strategic partnerships that he wants to establish. It also highlights the logistical nightmare he faces when seeking to obtain traditional government aircraft.
