Former President Donald Trump is preparing to take delivery of a luxury private from the royal family of Qatar. Boeing is struggling with a myriad of production problems. Consequently, the delivery of two new customized Boeing 747s for Air Force One has been postponed until at least 2027. Trump himself cut a deal to modernize these aircraft during his first term. The luxury jet, which has been set aside for Trump’s use by the Qatari royal family, will serve as Air Force One when the President travels in it. Four people with knowledge of the planning confirmed the unusual arrangement to Defense One, stressing that the move is particularly needed in light of Boeing’s failures. Trump previously toured a Qatari 747 at Palm Beach International Airport in February, where he expressed interest in potential alternatives.
