Donald Trump, the former President of the United States, has laid out an ambitious agenda for his potential second term, drawing from his experience in office. He believes his previous tenure provides a significant advantage in executing his plans. Central to this agenda is a focus on trade, national unity, and government efficiency, underscored by several controversial statements and decisions.
In a recent address, Trump highlighted his intent to impose 25% tariffs on steel and aluminum imports starting Monday. This move aims to address what he perceives as an unsustainable trade imbalance, notably a $200 billion deficit with Canada and $350 billion with Mexico. These tariffs, he argues, are necessary to rectify these deficits and encourage fair trade practices.
Trump's approach to international trade is clear: "If they charge us, we charge them." He has stated that if Canada and Mexico do not take decisive actions to improve border security and trade practices, they will face additional tariffs, which have been temporarily postponed for 30 days. Trump claims to have received positive responses from both countries following his tariff announcements.
The former president also touched on domestic issues, expressing plans to soon turn his attention to the Education Department and the Pentagon. He believes these institutions are ripe for reform, hinting at potential changes to improve efficiency and reduce wasteful spending.

In addition to economic measures, Trump has taken symbolic steps that reflect his vision for national unity and patriotism. He recently signed an order renaming the body of water between Florida and Texas as the "Gulf of America" on official maps. February 9 has been declared as the inaugural "Gulf of America Day," intended to foster a sense of national pride.
Trump's trust in Elon Musk, whom he appointed as the head of the Department of Government Efficiency, was evident. He expressed confidence in Musk's ability to identify and eliminate fraud and abuse within the federal government.

The former president also expressed strong disapproval of a recent judicial decision, asserting his disagreement with the ruling in its entirety. Yet, he remains steadfast in his trust in Elon Musk's capabilities.
In a surprising move signaling national unity, Trump became the first sitting president to attend the Super Bowl. This gesture was intended to promote a sense of shared patriotism across the nation.
However, controversy arose from Trump's remarks on Canada potentially becoming the 51st state. He suggested this change could ameliorate trade concerns with Canada, stating that he wouldn't mind addressing the trade deficit if Canada were integrated more closely with the United States.

Furthermore, Trump addressed recent tragic events, mentioning the 14 deaths and 35 injuries resulting from a "senseless" truck attack in New Orleans on New Year's Day. His comments underscored the importance of addressing domestic safety alongside international and economic priorities.
Reflecting on his past presidency, Trump acknowledged that his background in New York real estate rather than Washington politics influenced some of his hiring decisions. He admitted that he hired individuals who perhaps were not the best fit for their roles.
