Tragic Blaze Claims Lives at North Macedonia’s Pulse Club

A devastating fire engulfed the Pulse club in Kocani, North Macedonia, claiming at least 59 lives and injuring more than 155 others. The tragic incident unfolded during a concert by the popular hip-hop duo DNK, attended by approximately 1,500 people. The club is situated around 100 kilometers east of the capital, Skopje. The fire erupted at approximately 02:30 local time (01:30 GMT) when sparks from pyrotechnic devices ignited the highly flammable ceiling material, rapidly spreading the blaze.

The interior minister, Pance Toskovski, confirmed the catastrophic event through video evidence and footage. As the flames consumed the venue, panic ensued among attendees, making escape difficult. The pyrotechnic devices deployed during the concert inadvertently hit the ceiling, causing the deadly fire to ignite and spread swiftly.

Authorities are conducting thorough investigations to ascertain the exact cause and circumstances leading to this tragedy. The use of pyrotechnics in enclosed spaces is under scrutiny, as safety protocols are revisited in light of this incident.
