An 80-year-old man, identified as James Stroud Sr., was tragically killed in a drive-by shooting on Wednesday morning in Chicago. The incident occurred just after 10:00 a.m. on the 1400 block of W. 90th St., as Stroud was reportedly on his way to the bank to handle errands such as withdrawing money and paying bills. Despite being rushed to Christ Hospital, Stroud was pronounced dead shortly after his arrival.
The victim's son, James Stroud Jr., expressed his grief and disbelief over the senseless act of violence that claimed his father's life. Stroud Jr. shared with the media that his father had recently retired from a long career in truck driving and had not anticipated such a tragic end to his peaceful post-retirement life.
