Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky left the White House following the collapse of crucial peace talks with President Donald Trump. This high-stakes meeting, intended to forge a potential agreement regarding access to Ukraine's rare earth minerals, ended in discord after a clash in the Oval Office that underscored deep-seated tensions.
The discussions, which aimed to address the ongoing conflict that began with Russia's invasion of Ukraine three years ago, took a turn when Trump accused Zelensky of disrespecting the United States "in its cherished Oval Office." I don't want advantage, I want PEACE.” This statement reflects Trump's broader desire for a resolution to the conflict rather than a strategic edge for Ukraine.
Zelensky was reportedly in Washington to discuss terms that could facilitate U.S. access to Ukraine's rare earth minerals, a vital component for various technologies.
