Sam Fender, the North Shields-born artist, has expressed his overwhelming gratitude as his third studio album, "People Watching," achieves significant commercial success. Released recently, the album not only debuted at number one on the UK charts but also marked the biggest opening week for a British album since Harry Styles' "Harry's House."
Fender's journey in the music industry began in 2013, and he has since secured three UK top 10 singles and three number one albums. With "People Watching," he has once again proven his ability to resonate with audiences, as it racked up an impressive 107,100 chart units in its first seven days of release. This achievement makes it the first album to surpass 100,000 units sold since Harry Styles’ third album in May 2022.
The songs on "People Watching" are deeply rooted in Fender’s North East heritage, with one particular track featuring the Easington Colliery Brass Band. This collaboration was inspired by his grandparents, showcasing Fender's personal connection to his musical influences.
In addition to his album success, Fender is set to perform at the Brit Awards on Saturday. He has been nominated for two prestigious awards: Best Artist of the Year and Best Rock or Alternative Act. These nominations further highlight his growing prominence in the British music scene.
