Rust-Oleum Unveils Nature-Inspired Color Palette for 2025

Rust-Oleum Unveils Nature-Inspired Color Palette for 2025

Rust-Oleum has announced an exciting preview of its 2025 color palette, designed to effortlessly mix and match for home decor enthusiasts. Inspired by a broader spectrum of natural elements, the November release introduces four new hues: Warm Caramel, Smokey Beige, Earthy Green, and Gloss Burgundy. The Rust-Oleum Color Council predicts that biophilic design and subdued, natural tones will dominate interior trends in the coming year. These colors are set to become a staple in home decor and furniture design by 2025.

The new palette is a departure from Rust-Oleum's previous themes.

"Last year's palette embraced a predominantly monochromatic theme, featuring varying shades of blue, with complementary hues highlighting our spray paint color of the year, Satin French Blue," said Lori Janssen, senior product manager and color expert at Rust-Oleum.

"This blue-centric approach was driven by our users' desire to craft serene environments. Looking ahead to 2025, we're broadening this focus by drawing inspiration from a wider array of natural elements," she added.

Among the newly introduced colors, Warm Caramel evokes the hue of leather boots paired with blue jeans. Smokey Beige, Earthy Green, and the deep, resonant Gloss Burgundy also feature prominently in the collection. Lindee Katdare, Rust-Oleum's creative producer and in-house DIY expert, appreciates the richness of Gloss Burgundy.

"It reminded me of a rich wine, an early 2000s lipstick and my favorite fall nail polish—all of which convey a high-end and polished feel," Katdare reflected.

Katdare emphasizes the versatility of these hues for various spaces, recommending combinations of three or four colors within a single area to achieve the desired effect.

"Its versatility suits various spaces, accommodating both light and airy or rich and deep styles," she noted.

The inspiration behind the palette draws heavily from nature's beauty.

"Consider the deep burgundy of roses, the caramel tones of wood and clay, or the vivid hues of a sunset," Katdare explained.

In addition to this preview, Rust-Oleum plans to reveal the full color palette in January 2025. Lori Janssen's involvement in developing these trends ensures they align with consumer interests and current design philosophies. The palette's focus on natural elements signals a broader shift towards sustainable and biophilic design practices in interior spaces.
