Public Health Alert: Wegmans Chicken Nuggets Contaminated with Bone Fragments

The Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) has issued an urgent public health alert regarding Wegmans breaded fully cooked chicken nuggets. This alert comes in response to potential contamination with bone fragments, posing a significant risk to consumers. The affected products were sold at Wegmans Food Markets across several states, including Delaware, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Washington, D.C.

The FSIS advises consumers to scrutinize their freezers for the impacted products, specifically the 46-ounce bags of Wegmans Family Pack Fully Cooked Breaded Chicken Breast With Rib Meat. These products bear a "best if used by" date of 08 26 25 and carry the USDA mark of inspection with the establishment number "P-33944." Customers are strongly urged not to consume these products due to the potential health hazard.

To ensure safety, consumers are encouraged to dispose of or return the affected chicken nuggets to the place of purchase for a full refund. For any questions or concerns, Wegmans Food Markets is accessible via their customer service line at 1-855-934-3663, operational Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. ET and during weekends from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET.

Additionally, the USDA offers assistance through their Meat and Poultry Hotline. Consumers can reach the hotline 24/7 by dialing 888-MPHotline or emailing MPHotline@usda.gov for further guidance.
