Two flavors of NuGo Protein Bars have been voluntarily recalled due to a potential undeclared dairy allergen. The affected products are NuGo Dark Chocolate Chocolate Chip and NuGo Dark Chocolate Pretzels, specifically from lots B24235A, B24235B, B24236B, and B24236A. Consumers who purchased these bars with "best by" dates between December 14 and December 23, 2024, should be aware of the recall. This precautionary measure aims to ensure consumer safety and prevent any potential health risks associated with the undeclared allergen.
The recall emphasizes the importance of transparency in food labeling, as the undeclared dairy allergen could pose significant health risks to those with allergies.
“If you are allergic to dairy and have one of the impacted lots listed above, please return the item to your local Costco for a full refund,” advised NuGo Protein Bars & Cookies.
The recall is limited to the specific lots mentioned, and consumers are encouraged to check their pantries for the affected products. To prevent similar issues in the future, NuGo Protein Bars & Cookies is reinforcing process controls.
“We have process controls in place which are being reinforced to continually deliver our real dark chocolate protein products, certified vegan and pareve,” a statement from the company highlighted.
This voluntary recall showcases NuGo's commitment to consumer safety and product integrity. By taking these proactive measures, the company ensures that potential risks associated with undeclared allergens are minimized.
