Williams Farms Repack, LLC and H&C Farms in separate events recalled fresh tomatoes because they may be contaminated with salmonella. On May 02, 2025, government authorities declared the recall. For the third point, testing revealed that specific batches of tomatoes posed an immediate and severe health risk to consumers. These contaminated products were shipped to retail locations in Georgia, North Carolina, and South Carolina from April 23-28, 2025.
The recalled tomatoes are of all sizes. There are available in a Combo 25-pound pack, a 4×4 2-layer pack, a 60-count 18-pound loose pack, and XL 18-pound loose tomatoes. Each of these products, if sold in the format described, would have the lot codes R4467 or R4470. So how can you protect yourself in this new nickname arena?
Details of the Recall
These tomatoes in the salmonella outbreak have raised fears. They can be harboring salmonella, a bacterium that has been the cause of serious illness in consumers. Signs and symptoms of salmonella infection include fever, diarrhea, abdominal cramping, and vomiting. For these vulnerable populations, including the elderly and those with compromised immune systems, the risks can swing toward the catastrophic end of the scale.
Consumers in the impacted areas are urged to check their kitchens for the recalled items. If any of the above tomatoes are in your possession, do not eat them no matter what. Instead, consumers should be advised to throw out the tomatoes in order to avoid unintended consumption.
