Manchester City has officially released its new primary jersey ahead of the upcoming 2025-26 season. Football fans will first get to witness it in full action during this summer’s FIFA Club World Cup, which takes place across the United States. Union’s new kit features a classic sky-blue base. A unique white diagonal band runs from the left shoulder to the right iridion, reminiscent of a narrow, wispy cirrus cloud.
As a result, this new design reintroduces the sash on Manchester City’s home kit. In fact, it’s the first time the sash has ever returned in many, many years! The sash carries a significant history as it’s been featured on the club’s away and third kits since the 1970s. The current version is almost indistinguishable from the club’s third kit from 2009 to 2011. Its white base is covered in a beautiful red-and-black sash that turns heads.
Phil Foden, Oscar Bobb, Alex Greenwood, and Erling Haaland have all put on the kit. They highlight its aesthetic design features. Their approach really makes it pop. The kit includes a full-color sash that looks amazing. It’s got white piping on the sleeves and down the back of the collar that kick the cool styling up a notch.
The new home kit will be officially unveiled during the FIFA Club World Cup. This dynamic new event is scheduled for June 14 – July 13. Manchester City’s women will fight on the field in at least three group-stage games in this glamorous tournament. They’ll face off against clubs such as Wydad AC, Al-Ain, and Juventus.
The sash’s aesthetic has gone through periodic resurgences for decades. It formally debuted on away strips in the 1972-73 season and returned sporadically during the 1990s, 2000s and 2010s. Manchester City supporters will surely appreciate this unblinking, nostalgic homage to their club’s pennant-filled history.
