Heather Peace Celebrates End of Cancer Treatment with Heartfelt Tributes from Colleagues

And that’s not all. Heather Peace, the well-known star of BBC soap EastEnders, wants to help promote our campaign! After beginning her breast cancer treatment in early October, she has now completed her treatment. The 49-year-old actress, a long-running regular on the soap as the character Eve Panesar-Unwin, likened the completion of her course of treatment to finishing the London Marathon. This strong metaphor gives voice to her astonishing stamina along with her huge feeling of release.

Peace thanked everyone who contributed to her journey, especially her colleagues and the EastEnders production team for their support. “They went above & beyond during my treatment,” she remarked. Her network of friends and advocates from her community have been pivotal in that navigation and her recovery. They have allowed her to spend “the most precious time” with her late wife and their three daughters.

Other than her work in EastEnders, Peace has been featured in a notable host of popular television programs. She’s performed in Holby City, Waterloo Road and London’s Burning. In recent months, she has referred to her health experience as a “long road.” Including heartwarming sentiments about what brings her joy, even amidst the challenges.

Peace’s colleagues continue to commend her for her strength and resilience showing throughout this difficult period. Emma Barton, who portrays Honey Mitchell, shared an emotional message on social media, stating, “Love you so much, you beautiful, strong, mental, brave lady… You’re frigging Ace!!!”

Characteristic of Peace’s performances, Diane Parish, known for her long-running role as Denise Fox in EastEnders, described Peace as “fierce and courageously vulnerable.” To which Kellie Bright, who plays Linda Carter, responded by calling her a “WARRIOR WOMAN!!!! Over on EastEnders, meanwhile, Navin Chowdhry, who played Heather Peace’s character Nish Panesar, sent love to Peace – commenting: “All the love in the world Heather.

Reflecting on the impact of her experience, Peace noted a significant shift in her perspective. “Life feels very different now and it’s wonderful.” She emphasized the importance of cherishing moments with family, stating that she is “just trying to appreciate every moment of them.”

Peace also discovered happiness in the small things as she dealt with treatment. “I’ve found joy in the simplest of things,” she shared. Her unvarnished musings capture a deep recognition of the value of bare-knuckle honesty and connection. “Interactions with others have felt honest and real because I’ve had no capacity for small talk,” she added.

Heather Peace is beginning a new chapter now that she has completed her treatment. With her, she carries the full-throated support of her colleagues, and a deeper appreciation of the poem of life and living, and of community.
