A 20-year-old man, Tyler Hollins, has been indicted for the first-degree murder of a toddler, Rylo Yancy, who tragically lost his life during a drive-by shooting at a birthday party in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The incident took place on the evening of July 21, 2024, as confirmed by the Broward State Attorney’s Office. Authorities believe Hollins had a feud with some individuals at the party, which may have motivated the shooting.
At the time of the incident, Yancy was playing on one of the park's slides when gunfire erupted. Following the shooting, he was rushed to the Broward Health Medical Center with life-threatening injuries, but tragically, he did not survive. In October, family and friends gathered at the Anthony R. Manuel Funeral Home in Hollywood, Florida, to hold a celebration of life for Yancy, adorned with Spiderman-themed decorations.
Hollins was already in police custody on unrelated charges when he was indicted on March 6. The indictment comes as a significant development in the case that has gripped the local community and beyond. The Fort Lauderdale Police Department continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting.

Donald Geiger, representing law enforcement, has reiterated the importance of community cooperation in bringing justice to young Yancy and his family. Meanwhile, the Law Office of the Public Defender of Broward County, representing Hollins, did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
