Farrow & Ball Introduces Nine New Shades Inspired by Nature and Nostalgia

Farrow & Ball, the esteemed British paint brand known for its carefully curated palette, has unveiled a new collection of colors. In a rare move, the brand adds nine new shades to its existing range of 132 colors, marking the first introduction of new hues since 2022. Additionally, the brand resurrects three colors from its archived collection. These additions draw inspiration from nature and familiar memories, offering a comforting and earthy aesthetic.

The newly introduced colors include a mix of salmon, terracotta, browns, and greens. Each shade is meticulously designed to evoke comfort and familiarity, particularly appealing to those who shy away from more striking tones. The color Sap Green stands out as a true celebration of nature with its slightly understated appeal, while Scallop complements it beautifully. Joa Studholme, Farrow & Ball’s color curator, emphasizes the thoughtful inspiration behind these hues.

“These unsung heroes are all drawn from our fondest memories so they feel familiar and comfortable, particularly to those who are wary of bold tones,” – Joa Studholme, Farrow & Ball’s color curator.

The brand’s small palette simplifies the process of choosing a color that suits any space. Farrow & Ball's colors are not only high-quality but also effective in transforming spaces. The earthy tones—Etruscan Red, Duster, Marmelo, Naperon, and Broccoli Brown—are particularly noteworthy for their subtlety.

“Etruscan Red, Duster, Marmelo, Naperon, and Broccoli Brown are earthy without being overwhelming,” – Joa Studholme, Farrow & Ball’s color curator.

Studholme advises that using stronger tones strategically can enhance a room's ambiance without overwhelming it. For instance, positioning bold colors below the eyeline can minimize their imposing nature. Additionally, painting adjacent rooms in strong tones like Douter or Etruscan Red can create an illusion of lighter spaces.

“If you want to use a stronger tone, then keep it below your eyeline, like on kitchen islands, so it doesn’t feel nearly as imposing,” – Joa Studholme, Farrow & Ball’s color curator.

“Don’t forget that the rooms off halls painted in strong tones like Douter or Etruscan Red will always feel lighter.” – Joa Studholme, Farrow & Ball’s color curator.

The newly introduced colors are designed to resonate with those who appreciate subtlety over boldness. The enduring popularity of green shades is highlighted by Studholme's observation that greens paired with soft pinks continue to be a favored choice.

“We have found that green is enduringly popular, especially when teamed with soft pinks,” – Joa Studholme, Farrow & Ball’s color curator.
