Drake Set to Dominate Wireless Festival’s 20th Anniversary

The Wireless Festival is set to celebrate its 20th year with a remarkable lineup, headlined by the internationally acclaimed rapper Drake. The festival, taking place from July 11 to 13 in Finsbury Park, London, promises to be an unforgettable event for music lovers. Known for its history of showcasing popular artists, the festival will see Drake performing as the main act on all three nights. This announcement comes as no surprise to many, as Drake is often referred to as "the audience's most requested artist."

Wireless Festival has built a reputation for featuring top-tier performers. Last year's lineup included Nicki Minaj, 21 Savage, J Hus, and Doja Cat. In addition to Drake, the festival has confirmed performances by Burna Boy, PARTYNEXTDOOR, Summer Walker, and Vybz Kartel, who will be making his first UK appearance in six years. The festival's audience of approximately 50,000 rap, R&B, and hip-hop fans per day is eagerly anticipating this year's celebration.

For those eager to attend, tickets will go on general sale on Wednesday, February 19 at 12:00 GMT. The festival's presence in Finsbury Park is secured through a five-year agreement with Haringey Council, ensuring the event will continue to be held there every summer until at least 2027. Despite the excitement surrounding the lineup, there has been some criticism regarding the lack of UK artists featured prominently.

Rehea Shillingford expressed concern over the lineup choices, stating:

"I don't think there needs to be three days."

Additionally, Shillingford commented:

"There's other British artists that could have been headlining."

Similarly, Megaman noted the importance of including UK talent:

"It's a UK brand, so I would always love to see a top UK artist as part of the first run of promo."

Drake's recent involvement in a rap beef with Super Bowl headliner Kendrick Lamar adds another layer of intrigue to his performances at Wireless, particularly since Lamar has his own UK tour dates scheduled for July. Despite some mixed reactions from fans regarding three consecutive nights of Drake, the festival maintains a strong following in the UK.
