Herschel "Guy" Beahm, known to millions as Dr Disrespect, has regained his YouTube monetization rights after a tumultuous period that saw him removed from the platform's partner program in 2024. The popular streamer, who boasts 4.5 million subscribers on YouTube, announced the news during a live stream, marking a significant comeback after facing numerous challenges in recent years.
In September 2024, Beahm revealed that YouTube had reinstated him to its partner program, allowing him to once again earn income from his content. This change comes after a suspension that left him without monetization and led to the loss of several sponsorships. The exact reasons for his removal from the program were not disclosed by YouTube, although they stated that actions were taken when users broke the rules.
Dr Disrespect's troubles began in 2020 when he was infamously removed from Twitch, a move that left fans and industry insiders in disbelief. Following his Twitch exit, he took a hiatus from streaming, only to return to YouTube, where he faced further setbacks in 2024. During this time, he was also working with gaming studio Midnight Society on a project titled Deadrop, but his role with the company was terminated amid allegations linked to his past.
Midnight Society announced layoffs in September 2024 but affirmed its commitment to releasing Deadrop. In a statement regarding Beahm's departure, the studio cited compliance with Creator Responsibility policies. “Dr Disrespect was previously suspended… for violations of our Creator Responsibility policies. If there are further violations, we'll take appropriate action,” they stated.
Beahm has publicly addressed the controversy surrounding his past communications with a minor in 2017, asserting that no criminal charges have ever been filed against him. He has expressed regret over the incident, stating, “Let me be clear, it was not a criminal case against me and no criminal charges have ever been brought against me. That's on me as an adult, a husband and a father… it should have never happened.”
The return to YouTube's monetization program represents a pivotal moment for Dr Disrespect as he looks to rebuild his brand and reconnect with fans. He expressed his excitement during the stream by confirming, "we've got our YouTube monetisation back," signaling a new chapter in his streaming career.
