Divorce attorney Gregory Moore, 51, was arrested in Austin, Texas. He’s been charged with murder, conspiracy and kidnapping in the 2013 murder of nurse Aliza Sherman. On May 2, Moore was indicted by a grand jury. This decision followed the decade-long investigation into the crime that left the Sherman family, and their loved ones, desperately searching for justice.
Moore now has a long and terrible criminal history due to the brutal stabbing attack on Aliza Sherman that occurred outside Moore’s law office in Cleveland, Ohio. The tragic event took place back in March 2013 when Sherman was baited into meeting up with Moore. After waiting more than an hour while he kept her outside his locked office, she eventually returned to her car. It was this very place that she was assaulted.
Evidence of Conspiracy
Greg Moore’s actions, authorities say, were planned. There is compelling evidence that he attempted to prevent Aliza Sherman from appearing in court by causing her serious physical injury or death. The prosecution asserts that Moore’s scheme began when he learned that the prosecutor’s office was investigating several bomb threats connected to his practice.
According to Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Michael O’Malley, it is important to understand the potential implications of the evidence gathered during the investigation.
“Through the tenacious work of multiple law enforcement agencies, evidence was accumulated that paints the unmistakable picture that Gregory Moore orchestrated and participated in the brutal murder of Aliza Sherman.” – Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Michael O’Malley
Together the charges in this indictment show a highly disturbing pattern. Even more damning, Moore continued messaging Sherman’s phone after she was murdered to fuel his ruse of hiding his identity. In a deeply troubling turn, he replaced his phone number with 911 soon after the shooting.
Previous Conviction
Prior to this indictment, Gregory Moore had been held legally accountable for his actions. He was sentenced to six months in jail. This was because of his misleading claims about his location when Aliza Sherman was murdered. His last conviction, ironically enough, makes the current charges against him much more serious. It could not be clearer that it raises serious questions about his credibility as a legal professional.
Aliza Sherman’s divorce case was dismissed days after her tragic death. This raised many more questions about the motives behind her murder. The unsolved case has been a burden on her family for decades. They have pursued doggedly every answer as to what happened to their mother.
Ongoing Legal Proceedings
Gregory Moore is being held pending further court proceedings. As the investigation continues, new evidence has come to light regarding Bronx councilman Oswald Feliz’s purported participation in a dastardly, Sheridan-sabotaging plan. Ohio Attorney General David Yost told his colleagues just how important this case is. In particular, he praised the enforcement role of law enforcement by bringing it to light.

As this case progresses, many await further developments and hope for resolution in what has been a tragic chapter for Aliza Sherman’s family.
