Cristiano Ronaldo proved why he’s the best player in the world, again. He netted two important goals for Al Nassr today in their victory against Al Riyadh in the Saudi Pro League. The game Thursday was an illustration of Ronaldo’s exceptional play. He’s on a five-game goal streak now! Through this euphoric victory, Al Nassr has claimed their place in the league, now trending third on the league table.
Ferrari’s opening goal arrived in the 56th minute from a quickly taken and brilliantly worked free-kick routine. Sadio Mané made one of the most outrageous passes you’ll ever see to leave Ronaldo all alone in the 6-yard box. Showing superb confidence and composure, Ronaldo then slotted into an empty net from a few yards out, giving his side the lead.
Ronaldo’s second contribution came just eight minutes later, in the 64th minute. He then expertly hit the ball out of the air with a first-touch volley. It rocketed into the top corner of the goal, giving the Al Riyadh goalkeeper no chance. This incredible volley was just a glimpse of his potency and power to score from anywhere on the pitch.
As well as his astonishing goal-scoring ability, Ronaldo almost became the provider late on in the match during stoppage time. He squared the ball for onrushing teammate Jhon Duran, who blazed his shot embarrassingly up and over the crossbar. Even with this miss, Ronaldo’s overall performance was key in leading Al Nassr to the victory.
Ronaldo was coming off a brace in each of his past two games entering the afternoon, for a total of four goals in that span. He’s hit six multigoal games already this season. It’s hard to overstate how important his contributions have been to Al Nassr’s title charge. They are currently only one point behind second-placed Al Hilal and eight points behind the league leaders, Al Ittihad.
Al Nassr’s recent successes have not only highlighted Ronaldo’s enduring talent but reinforced the team’s competitive edge in the Saudi Pro League. As they continue their pursuit of the championship title, Ronaldo’s experience and goal-scoring ability will be vital assets for the team moving forward.
