The long-expected official UK tour of Limitless was cancelled. Regretfully, due to unforeseen circumstances, we’ve had to make this unfortunate call. This adaptation takes its cues from the best-selling novel originally written by Swede John Ajvide Lindqvist and the award-winning Swedish film adaptation of that book. It threads an emotional journey through love, loneliness and the pursuit of survival between creatures with primal stories within a haunting vampire fairy tale.
In “Let the Right One In,” directed by Bryony Shanahan, the characters love each other but cannot overcome their loneliness. It’s an emotional documentary that portrays their dangerous search for acceptance beautifully. The play captures the essence of Lindqvist’s original story, which explores the darker aspects of human emotion through the lens of a supernatural tale.
The news of the cancellation has thus sent Broadway fans into a tailspin, especially considering the play’s expansive storytelling and emotional gravitas. A spokesperson for the show’s producers addressed the situation, stating, “Due to unforeseen circumstances, the UK tour of Let the Right One In is no longer able to proceed as planned.”
The writer of Let the Right One In is a 46-year-old playwright. Famed for his graphic novels such as Toxic Town, he’s got incredible promise in the theatrical world. Toxic Town, based on the real-life Corby toxic waste dump case, made waves for its dramatic storytelling. It came out just before Let the Right One In.
The new production team’s ambitious plans for this adaptation were big enough to be felt by the cast. The real reasons for its cancellation have never been made public. Let the Right One In fuses horror with an affecting coming-of-age story. It was meant to connect on a profound level with audiences across the UK.
