Brooke Shields, the celebrated actress and model, is set to release her new book, “Brooke Shields Is Not Allowed to Get Old,” on January 14, 2025. The book offers an honest and personal exploration of her life, focusing on the pervasive inner critic that many women face. In a recent interview accompanying a photoshoot, Shields discussed her journey from self-doubt to self-assurance. Known for her confident and outspoken personality, Shields reveals how she has managed her inner critic and learned to walk into rooms with newfound confidence.
In the upcoming book, Shields candidly addresses the universal struggle many women encounter with self-criticism. She emphasizes that the inner critic often has the first response, as outlined in chapter three of her book.
“I mean, listen, the inner critic is always going to have the first response,” she states.
Shields reflects on her experiences in the public eye and how she has learned to silence her inner critic over the years. Despite being known for her confident demeanor, she admits that overcoming self-doubt was not an easy journey. However, she now embraces a sense of humor about herself, moving beyond mere self-deprecation.
“But I’m finding a sense of humor about myself. And it’s not just self-deprecation, which used to be my source of humor,” she shares.
Shields highlights the importance of self-love, emphasizing that it is a personal journey each individual must embark on.
“You really have to learn early to love yourself. No one can do it for you,” she advises.
Her book promises to offer readers an intimate glimpse into her life, sharing lessons learned throughout her years in the spotlight. Shields acknowledges the societal pressures women face and how they often lead to self-criticism.
“One survey of 2,000 women found that we criticize ourselves at least eight times a day, and frankly that seems to be a pretty low number,” she notes.
Through her narrative, Shields hopes to inspire others by sharing how she has embraced her strengths and stopped allowing her inner critic to dictate her actions. Her transformation into a more confident version of herself is a testament to her resilience and determination.
