Bikers Against Child Abuse Vice President Arrested on Child Porn Charges

John C. Todaro, the vice president of the Buffalo chapter of Bikers Against Child Abuse (BACA), was arrested on April 9, 2023, and charged with two felonies: promoting a sexual performance by a child and possessing a sexual performance by a child. By state police’s own admission, Todaro was carrying out his intentions through non-violent means. They argue his leadership role in the national organization would have afforded him access to children and child victims.

Todaro was taken into custody and arraigned in town court in Amherst, New York, where he was released. His next court date in this matter is set for late May. BACA is an international advocacy organization devoted to combating child abuse. In their work to support child victims, they provide many helpful programs — from supplying biker vests that represent protection and solidarity to services like mentorship.

The organization takes the screening of its members very seriously. According to the BACA website, “Prior to becoming the primary contacts for the child, the bikers are cleared for participation by passing an extensive background check, have ridden with the Chapter for at least a year, and have received special instructions from the Licensed Mental Health Professional.” This exhaustive background check process emphasizes the organization’s dedication to protecting children.

Sadly, the recent allegations against Todaro stand in stark contrast to BACA’s stated mission. A representative from the BACA chapter whose member was improperly sued expressed their disappointment over the incident. They claimed, “The reported actions clearly violate the values and mission that we stand for.” Such behavior like this is not tolerated within our organization and is in complete contradiction to Rooster Foundation’s zero tolerance code of conduct.”

As vice president of the Buffalo chapter, Todaro played a significant role in BACA’s efforts to assist children affected by abuse. The collective vibrantly fosters a culture that uplifts and empowers fledgling survivors. By funding art projects on the street, it has created a close-knit community and safe place.

The fallout from Todaro’s arrest has sparked discussion regarding the lack of accountability in non-profits that serve marginalized communities. Advocates for child safety like former Rep. have a positive agenda to make sure that everyone working in these organizations hold themselves to the highest level of ethical conduct.
