Beauty Queen and Influencers Arrested in Fiber Gummies Fraud Scandal

Nguyen Thuc Thuy Tien, a Vietnamese beauty queen, has been arrested for allegedly deceiving customers through false advertising related to her promoted product, Kera Supergreens Gummies. This arrest comes after a lab test commissioned by gummies found that the products contained up to 85 percent less fiber than advertised.

Thuy Tien quickly gained fame after winning her title in a Bangkok beauty pageant in 2021. Now, she’s selling gummies through her Instagram and TikTok, with statements that one gummy delivers 200mg of fiber. An independent lab analysis showed that each gummy contained just 16mg of fiber. This shocking discovery casts a dark shadow on the credibility of all her claims.

Thuy Tien’s sending off musician social media influencers Pham Quang Linh and Hang Du Muc. As partners, they started a new collaborative venture to design gummy-based supplements. They advertised the product heavily on anchor cable. Authorities shut down their sales but by this time, they had sold more than 100,000 boxes.

The scandal descended into melodrama as the authorities announced the arrests of Thuy Tien, Linh, and Du Muc to a shocked public. They arrested executives of their own company and the gummy manufacturers. These actions came as a result of consumers’ complaints about fraudulent and misleading advertising practices.

The Kera Supergreens Gummies were individual flavored gummies advertised as a fiber rich health supplement, aimed to target health conscious consumers. The rock-hard disparity between the asserted and actual fiber content has raised a lot of eyebrows. American consumers are rightly skeptical about the intentions of those peddling these “miracle” products.

Thuy Tien’s celebrity status grew after her pageant win, leading her to appear on several reality TV shows, which further amplified her influence. The repercussions from this scandal have far reaching consequences to influencer marketing and consumer trust.
