Jillian Lauren, a 51-year-old author known for her bestselling memoirs, was involved in a police shooting incident at her home in the Eagle Rock neighborhood of Los Angeles. The violent confrontation followed a dangerous high-speed pursuit involving three juvenile suspects running from the scene of a robbery-related car crash. The LAPD arrested Lauren after she exited her house with a 9-millimeter pistol.
The violent incidents erupted as police chased suspects involved in a fatal crash accident. Throughout the pursuit, Lauren was said to have left her residence and fired the weapon in question. Even with multiple warnings from police to drop the weapon, she did not obey.
“Then pointed the handgun at the officers,” – LAPD press release.
As defense against this perceived threat, police opened fire on Lauren, shooting her and causing non-life-threatening injuries. After receiving medical treatment at a nearby hospital, she was placed into jail custody and later charged with aggravated attempted murder.
Jillian Lauren is best known for her memoirs, including “Some Girls: My Life in a Harem” published in 2010 and “Behold the Monster: Facing America’s Most Prolific Serial Killer,” released in 2023. The latter book is a bit of an anomaly, as it’s based on interviews with serial killer Samuel Little. He eventually admitted to 93 murders, committed in seven states between 1970 and 2005.
The author is married to Scott Shriner, the bassist of the popular rock band Weezer. With all the fallout from the incident still forthcoming, her young literary career and personal life have suddenly found themselves thrust into the spotlight.
