Carlo Ancelotti, 65, the original “Galactico-whisperer”. He’s deserved this title, doing so by managing some of the world’s greatest—Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Kylian Mbappé. Like his first time around in the Spanish capital, where he guided Real Madrid to record-seeking success. They captured two UEFA Champions League crowns and a cache of domestic trophies during his era.

After all, Ancelotti’s second spell at Real Madrid was an extremely productive four years. He captured 11 trophies, two of which were Liga titles and a Spanish Cup. He captained the team to victory when they won their 10th Champions League title in 2014. This historic accomplishment ushered in an exciting new chapter for the club. This success was not enough to spare him an abrupt sacking by the club in 2015. This story only ten months after they were celebrating their fairytale Champions League victory.

Regardless of his departure from Madrid on those questionable terms, Ancelotti has shown a storied ability to turn the page and not dwell on bitterness. This resiliency will be an asset for him as he looks to lead Brazil into this exciting new chapter. Expectations his appointment will be more than a tactical move. Though a tactical decision, many view his appointment as something much larger. It’s an audacious declaration to the universe, letting everyone know of Brazil’s intention to get back on top of international football.

Publicly, the Brazilian Football Association (CBF) declared its intention to hire Ancelotti, following the widespread backing from some of the biggest names in the national-team setup. “He is the greatest coach in history, and now he is at the helm of the greatest national team on the planet. Together we will write new glorious chapters in Brazilian football,” – Ednaldo Rodrigues

Ancelotti’s 30-year experience coaching elite clubs (and to some extent, international teams) throughout Europe and beyond sets him apart in this particular challenge. He previously spent six years at Real Madrid, where he personally excelled in winner-take-all atmospheres. In that span, he became a master of crisis control, deftly handling mega-teams built with Pacers’ finesse.

In recent times, though, Ancelotti has bitten on an attraction to a more sedentary existence. When not in transit, he loves being at home in the Italian countryside or Vancouver. His love for coaching and devotion to the game of football have yanked him away from retirement. The opportunity to lead Brazil represents an even more enticing opportunity that he cannot pass up.

With Brazil seeking to restore its reputation as a football powerhouse, Ancelotti’s vision and leadership will be crucial in shaping the team’s strategy leading up to the World Cup.
