Amateur Footballer Claims People’s Puskas Award with Spectacular Bicycle Kick

Jonathan Le Ner exhibited some downright lethal skill and precision this year. He went on to receive the highly coveted People’s Puskas award for scoring what most are dubbing the “most beautiful” goal at the Far Far Away League (FFAL) amateur level. The accolade is perhaps best known for its beautiful, acrobatic bicycle kicks. It was given to Le Ner following his amazing run, which was filmed among the lush, green, rolling hills of the Pays de La Loire region. The honor recognizes the most amazing goals from amateur players all over the globe. It was created as an antidote to FIFA’s Puskas Award, which celebrates the feats of professional players only.

Le Ner’s winning goal was a jaw-dropping bicycle kick. Unbelievable moment caught on tape. A smart sports camera made by Danish company Veo brilliantly recorded the unbelievable moment. The Veo camera revolutionized the game’s online presence for amateur football. It provides teams a simple way to capture and share match highlights automatically, exponentially increasing their visibility. It was this same technology that allowed Le Ner to revisit his goal-scoring moment more than 1,000 times. He couldn’t wait to flip through the footage of his incredible goal.

"In the moment, I didn't realise the move I had made, but thanks to the Veo, I was able to review my goal and see that I had done something beautiful, magnificent," Le Ner remarked.

The People's Puskas award received over 2,000 goal submissions this year, showcasing the diversity and talent present in amateur football globally. The entire selection process boasted multiple rounds of public votes on social media. After these votes, we were left with our two final contenders. In the end, Le Ner’s goal took first place, winning the award by less than 88 votes.

"Personally, I've never seen one in any of the matches I've played at a senior level… And it's still an exceptional move compared to some other goals, even if they were all beautiful. But compared to some other goals, it's still exceptional," Le Ner reflected on his outstanding achievement.

Automated cameras like Veo’s have transformed the way amateur football is consumed and enjoyed. They freeze time on what once were ephemeral beats in nature. For instance, Le Ner’s jaw dropping bicycle kick is now universally accessible thanks to his phenomenal skills. Amidst this technological revolution, there has been a boom in the consumption of grassroots football online. With Dolby Audio, fans and players can really experience these astounding goals!

The award is very special to Le Ner and his advocates. This is by no means a personal victory. Most importantly, it’s a film about the amazing spirit of his small town team and its community.

"It's in moments like these that we realise that the club is much more than just a club; it's a true family. This is not an individual victory, but it's a collective victory. This trophy is mine, but it is also yours," Le Ner expressed his gratitude.

Like the Puskas award, the People’s Puskas award recognizes the beauty and skill happening in amateur football that is often ignored by a professional sports complex. Le Ner’s stunning strike to open the scoring is a perfect example of what makes this tournament so special. It has an enormous ability to inspire players and fans around the world.
