Shatice Jackson, Birmingham, AL, owner of Shatice’s Alluring Creations. She is particularly vulnerable given the dire criminal justice consequences she now faces after being detained in an intimate partner violence–related murder. The broader community was stunned by the crime that took place on Easter Sunday. Yet despite the horror of this event, it has ignited nationwide discussion about what context produced such a horrific incident.
On the day of the incident, Shatice Jackson supposedly struck and killed Mickese Bostic, the father of her children. According to police, the truck had hit not only Bostic himself but his neighbor’s home. With the first person killed, the Birmingham Police Department provided facts of the incident in a press release. They found that the vehicle crashed not only into him, but into his neighbor’s home.
After her arrest, Jackson was arraigned on April 23. The judge scheduled a new court date while still on the initial appearance docket. This will allow her new attorney time to get a notice of appearance on file. Formally charged with capital murder, Jackson now faces the state’s most severe charges and potential punishment if she is convicted.
The case originates from a disagreement that escalated on Easter Sunday, resulting in the tragic encounter between Jackson and Bostic. Though more information is still being released—including tentative timelines—it is local residents who must continue to deal with the ramifications of this disaster on their community.
