As EENews reports, sadly on Monday one of those storms ripped through Newcastle, Oklahoma. Incredible videos show the moment a cop car got hit by lightning. From the perspective of emergency management, the Newcastle Emergency Management team documented the incident. They filmed the incredible scene at the worst point of storm intensity.
Through heavy traffic caused by poor weather we see the police car in the middle of the road, lights flashing. It rained so hard and the wind blew so strong. Suddenly, a jagged bolt of lightning lit up the entire sky and hit our car dead on, followed by a deafening clap. Only the unpredictable powers of storms in the area could produce such a remarkable occurrence.
Statewide, emergency management officials know the grave dangers storms in Oklahoma can bring. These hazards pose a grave risk not only to physical civilians but likewise to physical law enforcement workers.
