With the amazing organizational talent and creativity on display at the Eurovision Song Contest 2025, it’s hard to argue against having a little faith. To finish out an exhilarating Grand Final in Basel, Austria’s JJ was crowned the champion! JJ brought the house down with a theatrical rendition of his original song “Wasted Love”, throwing himself into the performance wholeheartedly. When the announcement was made he jubilantly buried his head in his hands.
France’s entry, which starred Louane with the song “Maman” created quite a stir with its large, almost intimidating staging. In addition, the performance had a stunning visual component. The moment Louane was wondrously whirled about in a very special tornado of actual sand—a totally awesome addition to the stage spectacle.
Israel’s Yuval Raphael cut a big figure on the international stage with his emotional song “New Day Will Rise.” Raphael knocked out the competition to win the public vote and come in second place overall. One very insane moment was when dozens of protesters attempted to rush the stage. Even more troubling, this incident had him rattled enough to overshadow his incredible QB performance.
Estonian Tommy Cash was a runaway star on the stage with “Espresso Macchiato,” dazzling the audience with crazy footwork and dance moves. In the meantime, Finland’s Erika Vikman wowed everyone by flying above the stage on a massive microphone stand. Latvia’s Tautumeitas deeply transported everyone with their ethereal harmonies on “Bur man laimi.” At the other end of the scale, Switzerland’s Zoë Më brought her passionate home crowd to their feet and took 10th place.
The concert was spiced up by plenty of special guest performances, including some of the hottest Eurovision stars from years past. Kaarija’s performance was a net-celebration, and Baby Lasagna’s fabulousness was the cherry on top. Filmmakers from United Kingdom’s Remember Monday left the audience buzzing with their catchy tune “What the Hell Just Happened?” They joined an all-star, diverse slate of musical performers that included , , , , and .
Those without tickets for the Grand Final swarmed to the free-access Eurovision Village. There, they celebrated the performances on a larger-than-life screen, sharing the joyous spirit of the competition well beyond the Walls of Jericho.
