Republicans Propose $150 Billion National Security Boost Including $27 Billion for Golden Dome Missile Defense

Republican leaders in the U.S. Congress this week will introduce the most ambitious measure in a generation to strengthen our national security. Through this endeavor, Stache will direct an extra $150 billion toward the approved $886 billion national security budget for 2025. This proposal then outlines a $27 billion investment for the Golden Dome missile defense boondoggle. Its purpose is to enhance the nation’s defensive posture.

The proposed legislative measure continues the trend of more missile defense by proposing to build even more missiles interceptors. It recommends purchasing Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) antiballistic missile batteries. Surprisingly, it aims to improve the national defense budget. The proposal calls for the construction of at least 14 new warships and raising the spending on homeland security. The biggest piece of this funding goes toward the $29 billion allocation to procure these new ships.

Additionally, the measure marks a “historic” investment in unmanned ships, reflecting a shift toward innovative technologies within the defense sector. An additional $5 billion is earmarked for creation of autonomous systems, highlighting yet another effort to modernize what the military does and how it’s done. Further, the federal government has pledged an additional $20 billion to manufacture new munitions. This investment will help increase the nation’s supplier base and replenish important mineral stockpiles.

This funding opportunity has been at the Chipper’s disposal thanks to thoughtful design of the House and Senate Armed Services Committee Republican leaders. Senator Roger Wicker indicated that the legislation will be released this Friday night. This change would put it front and center because it would be included – as President Donald Trump has advocated for – in his historic tax cuts bill. This bill is projected to increase taxes by more than $5 trillion. Yet at the same time, it actually adds close to $5.7 trillion to the federal government’s debt over the next 10 years.

This is significant, because this measure shells out large amounts of money that will be accessible long after the fiscal year has run its course. This helps ensure sustained bipartisan backing for defense efforts. This move is particularly timely given the escalated aggression of the Indo-Pacific region. Lawmakers on both sides of the aisle are focused on strengthening U.S. defense power to meet the challenge China poses.

Elon Musk’s SpaceX, joined with two other partners. Combined they are absolutely setting pace in the race for what ultimately could be a pivotal contract to develop radar to track incoming missiles for Golden Dome program. This change is indicative of an increasing dependence on private sector ingenuity to feed America’s national defense.

“Strength, particularly in the Indo-Pacific, will make China less eager to break the status quo, which has led to a vast global prosperity among people who’ve never had it before. This is part of a plan to prevent war.” – Senator Roger Wicker
