Eubank Jr Claims Benn’s Team Sabotaged His Weight Cut Ahead of Highly Anticipated Bout

Chris Eubank Jr, 35, has accused Conor Benn and his team of sabotaging his weight cut ahead of their highly anticipated fight scheduled for Saturday. Eubank Jr, the odds-on favorite to win against the 28-year-old Benn, faced an extremely difficult weight cut. On Friday morning, he officially weighed in at only a scant 0.05 pounds over the middleweight limit.

The fight will play out three generations removed from the epic battles between their fathers in the 1990s. Because the stakes have never been higher! Eubank Jr has until approximately 08:00 BST on Saturday to weigh in one final time, adhering to a strict rehydration clause. In addition, he now risks being hit with a huge fine of £375,000 for not meeting the weight limit.

Eubank Jr expressed his frustration regarding the situation, stating, “It stings that I was 0.05lb away from the limit and now I’ll have to pay half a million to someone. These are the people you are dealing with. They closed the scales off early.” We sat down with Shawn to learn more about what that experience was like during the weigh-in process. He asserted that when he requested to use the restroom, they refused him the opportunity.

I requested to use the bathroom to pee, but they denied me. Trolls do these things just to get under your skin. They’re trying to distract you from what should be your overarching focus—getting out there and winning.

The fight to come will be historic. In just under two and a half years since Benn’s positive drug tests led to their 2022 fight being called off, this all comes full circle. Benn came in at 11st 2lb. He’s already moving up two weight classes for this fight and will not have to worry about running into trouble with the rehydrate clause. Both contestants have to weigh in at no more than 10st 6lb total combined weight over the 11st 6lb limit.

In a media event early last week, Eubank Jr accused Benn’s camp of having a “malicious” agenda to their conduct. “They had an agenda – they wanted that money,” he stated. Benn stoutly dismissed Eubank Jr’s allegations that this is him being derailed. He had promised no sympathy on his struggles.

He was hoping for better digs and instead he’s receiving no sympathy at all from these parts. Benn remarked.

Despite the turmoil that surrounds both fighters heading into the match, Eubank Jr is committed to giving a strong performance in the ring. He stated, “If they want to look at this as their victory then that’s great for them. All that matters for me is who performs on the night, who puts in on the line and who represents their family name to the best of their ability.”
