Trio Indicted in Connection with 2020 Bar Explosion in Houston

Lyndell Price, Armani Williams, and John Price have all recently been detained. They are tied to a large explosion at Bar 5015 in Houston that occurred in June 2020. The U.S. Attorney’s Office has successfully indicted them all on federal charges including conspiracy to commit arson and arson. The involved premises was the popular bar and restaurant owned by the business partner of John Price, the owner/businessman. It also brought to light serious issues with safety protocols adopted by these businesses.

Lyndell Price, 42, Armani Williams, 27, and John Price, 39, have experienced great harm to their lives and community. If convicted, they could face extreme consequences. For their role in this scheme, they could each be sent to prison for up to 25 years. If convicted, Lyndell and John Price each face an additional five years due to their charges being classified as hate crimes. The conspiracy charge is for using a facility of interstate commerce to commit vehicle arson.

Details of the Incident

The chain of events that led to that explosion started on the morning of June 12, 2020. Armani Williams and a co-conspirator purchased gasoline, gas cans and masks at a truck stop in Houston. They bought or built these things during this time. Taken together, these actions have led many to question what FHWA’s true intentions here are even before the blast at Bar 5015.

After the arson, Lyndell Price allegedly called John Price to tell him that “the deed was done.” This written communication can indicate a greater degree of premeditation, control and organization among the people charged that intensifies their own criminal exposure and liability.

Legal Implications

The indictment by a federal grand jury underscores how serious the charges against the trio really are. If these defendants are convicted, they should receive disproportionately long prison terms that match the seriousness of the hard core crimes they stand accused of committing. The impact can stretch far past incarceration. This case serves as a cautionary tale regarding the legal and financial consequences that arson-related criminal statutes can impose.

Letitia Quinones-Hollins, attorney for brother John Price underline the need to be kind and to create a circle of people you can trust. As she remarked, “This is a textbook case in being extremely careful about the company you associate with. This comment really cuts to the moment we’re in. It’s a perfect case study of how the wrong connections can bring nasty legal consequences.

Community Reaction

The tragedy at Bar 5015 has shaken all of those connected to it. Secondly, it created a panic around public safety within the community about local businesses. Residents are concerned with how things like this can happen, what steps are being taken to ensure it doesn’t happen again.

Now that the lawsuits are ongoing, most people want to know what led to this dangerous incident. The U.S. Attorney’s Office statement reminds the public that their office is still investigating the matter and that all evidence will be investigated completely and fairly.
